Past Tense is not a thrift shop, not a record store, and not a vintage clothing rack. It is an archive disguised as all three. At its core, Past Tense is a living catalog of cultural debris — fragments of sound, print, film, fashion, and tech that were discarded, forgotten, or buried, then unearthed and reframed as artifacts. Each item carries more than its surface value; it carries a timestamp, a ghost, a coded signal from the past that still hums today.
The project was born out of obsession with the overlooked. Where others see bins of VHS tapes, fading magazines, and scuffed Game Boys, Past Tense sees material evidence of culture in motion. These artifacts aren’t random — they are curated chaos. Together, they form a shadow history of music, subcultures, obsolete formats, and the people who carried them.
